Pro-Ecuador.com is the website of Gary Phillips and Linda McFarlin. We moved to Cotacachi, Ecuador, in November, 2006, after almost a decade of teaching meditation worldwide. We sold real estate, conducted tours and provided a variety of services to prospective Cotacachi residents, then retired in 2013.
Following a strong desire to be nearer our children, we spent a year in the states, but fate brought us back to our farm just outside of Cotacachi and a redirecting of our priorities. Although we've been busy building, landscaping, and growing organic fruits and vegetables, we have never forgotten our core beliefs.
The shamans of North and South America have long predicted that when the eagle of the North flies together with the condor of the South, this will signify the dawning of a new age of peace on earth.
That transformation is happening now. For many years, we have committed our lives to personal growth and planetary expansion. In 2006, we were directed to come to Cotacachi, not fully knowing why. Only a very few expats were living in Cotacachi at that time.
In past years, many people, a good number with our help, have followed an inner urging to move to Ecuador. We assisted many of those who came to participate in the fulfillment of this ancient legend.
Our primary commitment, through many years of teaching meditation, has always been and still is to facilitate the dawning of a new planetary paradigm.
Since 2014, we have been developing our 10 acres of paradise just outside of Cotacachi. Linda took a permaculture course from Australia's Geoff Lawton. We have planted many native, fruit and nut trees, installed swales, dug ponds, planted gardens, built a hot tub, a green house and a gazebo and just simply had fun.
Now that we have completed the infrastructure on our farm and built our personal home and gardens, we've entered a new phase of our lives. We are ready to invite others to experience the beauty and tranquility we have found on this land.
We are constructing a two-bedroom rental house and a working kitchen to create products from our organic garden produce. We are also offering Permaculture Design Courses. Our first PDC will be taught by Gary Deetz and Andrew Goodhart in January, 2019.
We call our farm El Santuario, (The Sanctuary). In addition to presenting permaculture workshops and meditation retreats, our farm is available to those who wish to spend time in peace and solitude in the highlands of Ecuador.
Our setting is perfect for writers, artists, cultural creatives, healers and meditators who seek renewal of body, mind and spirit.
